Jacksonport is a quiet crossroads on the lake side of the peninsula, and its whole appeal for a visitor is logistical as much as scenic: the three best things to do here are all within a few minutes of each other, and of the village itself. This isn't a town where you plan a driving loop — you plan a short walk or a five-minute hop, and you're done.
That compactness is the point. If you're staying in or passing through Jacksonport specifically, here's how the day lines up.

Visitors based in Fish Creek or Sister Bay are looking at a real drive across the peninsula and tend to treat it as a dedicated outing; from Jacksonport, it's closer to a quick errand you can fit in before breakfast or between other stops. The trade-off is the vehicle sticker: unlike Cave Point next door, Whitefish Dunes is a state park, so you'll need a day or annual pass before you go through the gate. Worth it if swimming and a walk on the boardwalk trails are on your list for the day — just budget for the sticker if you haven't already got one for the trip.
Jacksonport
Lakeside Park is Jacksonport's own stretch of Lake Michigan shoreline, right in the village and free to visit, with no sticker and no real drive if you're already staying here. It's a smaller, quieter scene than Cave Point or Whitefish Dunes — a spot to let kids play in the sand or take a slow evening walk rather than a destination in its own right.
That's the honest pitch: it won't out-draw the two parks above it on this list, but it's the one stop here that costs you nothing in time or planning, which counts for a lot on a day when you've already spent the morning walking trails.
