The Best Shops & Boutiques in Door County
Door County shopping is small, walkable, and refreshingly un-chain — independent bookstores, a homegrown clothing label, an eco-outfitter, and a lavender farm you can only reach by ferry. These are the non-food shops worth building time around; for art, we keep a separate galleries list.
A few things worth knowing:
- Sturgeon Bay's Third Avenue and Fish Creek's Main Street are the two densest strolls — several of these sit within a block of each other.
- Most stay open year-round or close to it — unusual up here, where a lot shuts for winter. Still, confirm off-season hours.
- Fragrant Isle is a ferry ride away on Washington Island; save it for an island day.

The homegrown Door County apparel label, going since the mid-1980s, with its flagship on Fish Creek's Main Street and shops in Sister Bay and Sturgeon Bay. Casual clothing for men and women plus their own branded Door County lines.
It's the reliable stop when the lake wind picks up and you need a layer you forgot to pack. Open year-round.

The south end's marquee independent bookstore, women-owned and tightly curated, on Sturgeon Bay's Third Avenue — strong on fiction, kids' books, and Door County history. The kind of shop where a staff recommendation actually lands.
An easy hour on a rainy afternoon, and steps from Cornucopia for a Third Avenue browse.

Across from the Sister Bay marina, an eco-minded outfitter linking people with nature since 1972 — clothing in earth-friendly fabrics, footwear, jewelry, games, and a coffee bar downstairs.
In winter they rent cross-country skis and snowshoes, which tells you exactly the kind of shop it is.

Peter Sloma's new, used, and rare bookshop in Fish Creek — 20,000-some titles with a deep bench of Door County, Great Lakes, and Wisconsin history, plus old maps and postcards. Bring a box of your own books to trade for store credit.
A second shop is up in Sister Bay. Pairs perfectly with Novel Bay — one for new, one for old.

An independent kitchen shop on Sturgeon Bay's Third Avenue — the place to find the gadget, pan, or gift you didn't know you needed, a few doors from Novel Bay for a tidy one-block stroll.
Worth a stop for anyone who cooks, and a good source of a Door County gift that isn't a fridge magnet.
Washington Island · $$ · Seasonal.
A working lavender farm with a shop and cafe on Washington Island — rows of purple in the midsummer bloom, plus lavender everything in the store: soap, honey, lemonade, ice cream.
Save it for an island day, and try to line your visit up with the peak bloom in July. It's the most only-in-Door-County shop on this list.

- Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay packs Novel Bay, Cornucopia, and a gallery or two into one walkable block.
