Newport State Park
“The wildest of Door County's parks, and the only one that's truly quiet even in July: 30 miles of trail means the crowds thin out fast once you're a half-mile in. It's also Wisconsin's first International Dark Sky Park, so if you can stay past sunset, do.”
Wisconsin's only wilderness-designated state park: 2,300+ acres, 11 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, and roughly 30 miles of interconnecting trails at the tip of the peninsula.
Seasonal: Open year-round, 6am-11pm; requires a Wisconsin state park vehicle admission sticker. Trails are open in winter but not groomed for skiing the way Peninsula State Park's are.
