Bay Trading Company
Architectural salvage on Highway 42 in Egg Harbor — stained-glass windows, fireplace mantels, and the kind of old-building pieces nobody else up here carries, from about twenty vendors under one barn roof. A real treasure hunt if you're restoring an old house or just love the looking. Open-air and seasonal, so dress for the weather.
Big Easy Bagel and Beignet
"Big Easy" is New Orleans' nickname, and the menu earns it. Order the beignets, pillowy squares of fried dough under a heavy dusting of powdered sugar, and pair them with a chicory café au lait, the same combination that built Café du Monde's reputation.
Birch Creek Music Performance Center
A summer music academy where advanced students study by day and perform nearly every night with faculty and guest artists — in a historic barn east of Egg Harbor, the players close enough to hear the room breathe. Percussion and steel pan, symphony, big-band jazz; check the season calendar and buy ahead.
Burton's on the Green
The clubhouse grill at Alpine Golf Course, opened in 2022 by the Alpine Resort team behind Burton's on the Bay. Grab a fire table overlooking the course and settle in for the fish fry.
Buttercups Coffee
The name is owner Dave Rozek's nickname for his wife, Karen. This Egg Harbor coffee bar pours Seroogy's coffee and bakes fresh scones every day.
Cappaert Contemporary Gallery
The contemporary corner of Egg Harbor's art scene, set in an 1873 log cabin above the bay. Owner Ginnie Cappaert shows her own abstracted-landscape paintings alongside 40-some regional and national artists in glass, clay, encaustic, and mixed media, with a sculpture path and her working studio on site.
Casey's BBQ and Smokehouse
Order the brisket, sliced. It smokes 12 to 16 hours over Door County cherry wood, with a signature dry rub, the Northern twist on Southern barbecue that Casey's is after. The pork shoulder gets the same cherry smoke for 14 to 16 hours before it's hand-pulled.
Chocolate Chicken
The name is a Door County tease: no chicken on the menu, just chocolate. This Egg Harbor sweet shop makes its own truffles and fudge, scoops super-premium ice cream, and runs a coffee bar where the espresso drinks go by Chickacinnos.
Cupola Cafe
Set inside the 1871 Cupola House, the Gothic-revival landmark on Highway 42, this Egg Harbor cafe pulls espresso from Isely Coffee beans roasted up the road in Ephraim and bakes in the Austrian style. The menu rotates, but the Austrian pastries and galettes are the reason to stop.
Door County Trolley
Narrated tours by old-fashioned trolley, themed however you like your sightseeing — a morning lighthouse run out to Eagle Bluff and Cana Island, a three-winery wine tour with lunch, scenic loops, or after-dark ghost and pub crawls. The easy, no-driving way to see a lot of the peninsula in one trip.
Ember at The Landmark Resort
The Landmark Resort's restaurant is perched above Green Bay with one of the best sunset views in the county. Jambalaya and shrimp and goat cheese grits lean into a Cajun-inflected comfort-food menu, with a weekend breakfast buffet too.
Fika Bakery and Coffee House
Fika (say fee-ka) is the Swedish ritual of pausing for coffee and something sweet, and this Egg Harbor bakery is named for it. David and Heather Linstrom opened it in 2017 and bake Swedish and American pastries from scratch. Order Fika's Famous Rolls, made from a family recipe passed down through generations, with a cup of the coffee that gives the ritual its name.
Greens N Grains Natural Food Market & Café
Northern Door County's full-service natural food market, a vegetarian café folded into an organic grocery in downtown Egg Harbor. Shop the organic produce and gluten-free shelves, then order at the juice bar: fresh-pressed veggie juices, smoothies, and espresso. In summer the café adds a food menu, including a Roma panini heaped with fresh mozzarella. Café open daily until 4.
Grumpy's Ice Cream and Popcorn
The name's a bluff: friendly folks handing out free samples at this Egg Harbor ice cream and popcorn stand. Order a root beer float, draft poured over hand-dipped scoops in a frozen mug. Popcorn and fudge are made in small batches on site, open May through October.
Harbor View Park
A genuine bluff-top view over the marina, with walking paths and benches built for exactly this. The village didn't undersell it when they put "watch the sunset" in their own description.
Horseshoe Bay Golf Club
The county's only private club — 18 holes stretching past 7,000 yards from the tips, near Egg Harbor. Play is for members and their guests, so there's no public tee time, but it's the course serious golfers here talk about.
Log Den
Carved bears, eagles, and buffalo look down on the dining room of this hand-scribed log lodge, which the Lautenbach family raised from Door County timber in 2006. The whitefish sandwich is a featured plate, but the Friday fish boil (whitefish, potatoes, onions, cherry pie) is the move all summer. Reserve at (920) 868-3888; they open at 4 midweek, late morning on weekends, and 9 for Sunday brunch.
Macready Artisan Bread Company
A family-run bakery baking everything from scratch, now in its 15th season. Order the chicken salad on their cranberry bread: it converts people who swear they do not like chicken salad. Save room for a cherry scone.
Main Street Market
Egg Harbor's full-service grocery, locally owned since 1987 and the place to provision a cottage kitchen. Grab a roasted chicken and a deli pizza for the cabin, then work the wine, beer and liquor aisle that's deep enough to stock the whole week.
Mezzanine
Wooden communal tables, string lighting, and a marina view make this the county's best rooftop seat. The smoked-whitefish dip and the lavender-cherry cheese curds both lean into Door County ingredients rather than playing it generic.
Olde Orchard Antique Mall
A multi-vendor antique mall on Highway 42 in Egg Harbor, decades into its run — the browse-the-booths kind of place where you lose an hour and turn up something you weren't looking for.

Plum Bottom Gallery
Chad Luberger's pottery studio grew into one of the county's best craft galleries — 20 acres on Plum Bottom Road showing 150-plus artists in clay, glass, metal, fiber, and jewelry, his wheel and Angela's jewelry bench working on-site. Can't get out to the farm? They've added storefronts in downtown Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Sturgeon Bay.
Rusty Tractor Breakfast Barn
Breakfast is served inside an actual barn, with a little market to browse and outdoor tables for a mimosa while you wait for a seat. The house specialty is the stuffed French toast, its filling rotating weekly through flavors like Door County Cherry Pie. Thirty-five years in, the promise holds: come hungry, leave happy.
Salute Mexican Lounge
More lounge than restaurant, with a small-plates tapas menu and estate wine machines that pour boutique, limited-production bottles by the ounce. It fills the former Mojo Rosa space in downtown Egg Harbor, next to Main Street Market, backed by craft cocktails, 13 draft beers, and a back room with pool, pong, and darts.
Shades of the Past
A genuine estate-antiques shop on Highway 42 in Egg Harbor — silver, cut crystal, china, and glassware filling a bright-yellow building, going since 1973. This is the real thing, not a gift shop with a few old signs out front. Seasonal, so call ahead for hours.
Shipwrecked Brew Pub
Reliable post-beach burgers and house beer in the middle of Egg Harbor: the Door County Cherry Wheat is the one to try.
Stone Hedge Golf and Pub
The clubhouse pub at a nine-hole executive golf course, with a patio overlooking the 9th green. Order the Cherry BBQ Burger: Hyline Orchard's cherry BBQ sauce over smoked gouda, cheddar, and bacon on a brioche bun. You don't need to play a round to eat here.
The Fireside Restaurant
Chef-owner Blake Schar grew up in New Orleans and trained at Scottsdale Culinary Institute before landing in Door County in 2011. Shrimp and grits, jambalaya, and cherry-barbecued ribs are about as far from a fish boil as this county gets, in the best way.
Village Cafe
Order the coffee cake, one of the two things this downtown Egg Harbor cafe calls famous (the carrot cake is the other). Breakfast is served all day, and the artwork and odds and ends stacked on the shelves and walls are all for sale while you eat.
Villaggios Italian Steakhouse
Owner Kim Jensen moved her existing Juddville restaurant into this corner of Highway 42 and County E in 2020, and the fresh-made pasta and steaks now share the address with a screened-in porch that's worth requesting.
Wood Orchard Market
A big roadside farm market on Highway 42 north of Egg Harbor, stocked largely from the Wood family's own 200-plus acres of cherries, apples, and berries. Get the cherry strudel, baked daily alongside the pies, doughnuts, and fudge made on site. Third-generation growers since 1955; the market itself opened in 1996.
Woodwalk Gallery
A renovated dairy barn on ten acres south of Egg Harbor, showing 75-plus makers in painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, and locally built furniture. It doubles as a venue — Midsummer's Music concerts, farm-to-table dinners, and off-season winter markets all happen here, so check the calendar before you go.
